Entries submitted outside this period will not be accepted. The winner is scheduled to be announced on Wednesday, 2 December 2026.
- WHO MAY ENTER
Entry is open to natural persons who are at least 18 years old, reside in the Republic of South Africa, and own a South African business or are authorised to represent that business. The entrant must have authority to submit the business for the prize and to provide the content and approvals needed to develop its website.
Employees, directors, contractors, agents and immediate family members of the Promoter, and anyone directly involved in administering or judging the competition, may not enter. The Promoter may request reasonable proof of age, identity, residence and authority to represent the business.
- HOW TO ENTER
Entry is free. No purchase or payment is required. During the Competition Period, an eligible person must complete and submit the official online entry form at https://websites4u.co.za/win-a-free-starter-website/. This is the proposed entry-page address and must be published before the competition opens.
The entry form will ask for the entrant’s name and contact details, the business name and location, and a written response of no more than 150 words explaining what the business does, whom it serves, and how an 8-page website would help the business reach or serve customers.
Only one entry per person and business is permitted. Entries must be complete, truthful, original and submitted by the entrant. Incomplete, late, copied, misleading or automated entries may be disqualified. The Promoter may contact an entrant to verify information, but will not accept material changes to an entry after closing.
- JUDGING AND SELECTION OF THE WINNER
This is a skill-based, judged competition. It is not a random draw. A judging panel appointed by the Promoter will assess eligible entries against the following published criteria:
- Business need and potential impact of the website: 40 points.
- Clarity and relevance of the written response: 30 points.
- Practical fit between the business and the 8-page starter website prize: 20 points.
- Originality and insight: 10 points.
The eligible entrant with the highest total score will be selected as the winner. Judges will record their scores and reasons. If two or more entries receive the same highest score, the panel will review and score the tied entries again against the same criteria, recording the basis for its final decision. No random selection or public engagement tally will determine the winner.
- THE PRIZE AND ITS LIMITS
One winner will receive one starter website package for the business identified in the winning entry. The package comprises:
- A professionally designed, mobile-responsive starter website of up to 8 standard informational pages.
- A standard contact/enquiry form.
- One new .co.za domain registration for the initial registration term, provided the chosen domain is available and the winner meets the registrar’s registration requirements.
- One month of standard website hosting, starting when the website is published and activated.
The exact page structure and standard features will be agreed during onboarding. The winner must supply accurate business information, approved text, images, logo and other content in a usable format. The prize does not include e-commerce, paid advertising, professional photography, extensive copywriting, logo or brand design, paid third-party licences, premium stock assets, custom software, bespoke plugin development, complex booking systems or integrations, unless expressly agreed in writing as part of the prize.
The domain is subject to availability at the time of registration. Premium or aftermarket domain names, domain transfers, alternative domain extensions and additional domain-related charges are not included. The winner is responsible for domain renewal after the included initial registration term.
After the included one-month hosting period, any continued hosting is optional and will be quoted separately. No renewal charge will be incurred unless the winner accepts the applicable quote or service agreement. The winner is responsible for future hosting fees if the winner elects to continue hosting with the Promoter.
The prize is not transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash and is limited to the scope stated in these terms. Any work requested beyond the stated scope will require a separate written quotation and the winner’s approval.
- WINNER NOTIFICATION AND ANNOUNCEMENT
The winner will be announced on 2 December 2026 on the Promoter’s website and/or official social media channels, and will also be contacted using the details submitted with the entry. The winner must respond within five business days after the first notification attempt and provide any reasonable information needed to verify eligibility and arrange delivery.
If the selected winner is ineligible, cannot be contacted after reasonable attempts, declines the prize, or does not complete the verification and onboarding steps within the stated response period, the Promoter may select the next highest-scoring eligible entry using the same judging records and criteria.
- PRIZE FULFILMENT
The Promoter will agree the website brief, page structure and project schedule with the winner after eligibility has been verified. The winner must provide the required content, approvals and domain-registration information in a timely manner. The Promoter is not responsible for delays caused by missing, inaccurate or late material from the winner, third-party suppliers, domain availability or events outside the Promoter’s reasonable control.
The winner must review and approve the website before publication. The one-month hosting period begins on the date the website is first published and activated, not on the date the winner is announced.
- PERSONAL INFORMATION AND PRIVACY
The Promoter will use the personal information submitted with an entry to administer the competition, assess eligibility, judge entries, contact entrants and deliver the prize. Information will be handled in accordance with applicable South African data-protection law, including the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
Consent to receive marketing messages is optional and must be collected separately from entry. Refusing marketing consent will not affect eligibility or judging. Entrants may contact INFO@WEBSITES4U.CO.ZA with questions about their personal information. The Promoter should link its applicable privacy notice on the entry form before launch.
- PUBLICITY
The winner may be invited to take part in a testimonial, case study or promotional feature. Participation, and permission to use the winner’s name, image, business details or story for marketing, is voluntary and is not a condition of receiving the prize. Any publicity consent will be requested separately.
- SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM DISCLAIMER
This competition is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or their respective owners. By entering, each entrant releases those platforms from responsibility in connection with the competition, to the extent permitted by law. The Promoter alone is responsible for the competition.

The Promoter may amend, suspend or cancel the competition only where reasonably necessary because of circumstances beyond its control, and will publish notice of any material change on its website.
Nothing in these terms limits any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
